Lovemaking Positions
The Kama Sutra offers a wealth of knowledge about love and life, guiding readers to live fully and wholeheartedly. In this series we’ll share a little inside info about some of the famous lovemaking positions!
Lovers’ Scissors
“Her limbs, entwined in his like tendrils of fragrant jasmine creeper, draw taut and slowly relax in the gentle rhythm of linga and yoni.”
The man lies on his side and the woman on her back, at a 90-degree angle to one another. The woman’s leg closest to her lover goes over the top of his hip, while her other leg goes between his legs, creating the “scissors” effect.
This position is also accessible with soft penetration, allowing for the intimate union and more subtle energetic interaction to give rise to his erection, rather than stronger physical stimulation. The key is to stay relaxed and connected, breathing slowly and deeply.
You can try to harmonise your breathing, looking into each other’s eyes, placing a palm on each other’s heart. Simply allow yourselves to BE in the experience, silent, without allowing intrusive thoughts unrelated to your loving connection.
Movements in this position are gentle pulsations, rocking motions, rather than intense thrusting. You can occasionally squeeze your pelvic floor muscles, channeling the energies to the heart-space, allowing your heart to open more and more deeply to your lover. Feel the love intensifying and direct it through your gaze to your beloved.
This more contemplative lovemaking position can be approached after more dynamic lovemaking as a way to settle the energies and expand them into the heart — literally making MORE love 🙂
To deepen your awareness on the more subtle emotional and spiritual dimensions you can also stop moving all together from time to time.
